"Darkly Dreaming Dexter" meets "Donnie Darko"?

Wrote an e-mail last night to Dan Licht, the man behind the "Dexter" score, asking about the possibility of Michael Andrews' "Donnie Darko" score as an inspiration. Check out what I'm talking about:

Michael Andrews' "Liquid Spear Waltz", edited to some footage from "Halo"

"Wink" from the "Dexter" soundtrack

What do you think?

  1. I couldn't get this out of my head. I connected it just a few days ago when I started watching Dexter on Showtime On Demand (already up to a good bit of Season 2). As soon as I heard this theme I instantly thought Donnie Darko and I'm glad I'm not the only one who heard it.

  5. I thought it might have been the same song until I googled it just now. Very interesting.

  6. It's completely ripped from Donnie Darko. I'm beginning to notice a lack of originality in the show now. I guess that's to be expected in the 5th season.
