Pizza Palace-Knoxville, TN
Pizza Palace was tasty. Simple as that. Also the only drive-in I've ever seen that serves authentic Italian food.
Marietta Diner-Marietta, GA
Here's the thing about the Marietta Diner. Uncle Gus. Uncle Gus was the chef at the Diner when DDD filmed that episode, but between then and when we ate there, there was a dispute and he left to open his own place. Marietta Diner was good but not exceptional, and I think the lack of Gus is to blame. Maybe my hopes were too high, I dunno.
The Beacon-Spartanburg, SC
The Beacon was disgusting in an awesome way. Ridiculous amounts of food, amazing sweet tea, and of course, the order-caller J.C.
The Colonnade-Atlanta, GA
The Colonnade was expensive, but delicious. More appropriate for a celebratory meal or some such occasion. Specials that day included seared kangaroo, rabbit, and corn flake-crusted french toast.
The Silver Skillet-Atlanta, GA
Great biscuits, better chicken. Walking to the bathroom leads you through the kitchen, which was pretty cool. Probably my fave of the 5 we've done so far.
more to come, hopefully

Doumars, Virginia Diner and Pizza Palace you list above. I'll let you know how it goes, keep up the DDD quest.
