Wrote an e-mail last night to Dan Licht, the man behind the "Dexter" score, asking about the possibility of Michael Andrews' "Donnie Darko" score as an inspiration. Check out what I'm talking about:
Michael Andrews' "Liquid Spear Waltz", edited to some footage from "Halo"
"Wink" from the "Dexter" soundtrack
What do you think?

I couldn't get this out of my head. I connected it just a few days ago when I started watching Dexter on Showtime On Demand (already up to a good bit of Season 2). As soon as I heard this theme I instantly thought Donnie Darko and I'm glad I'm not the only one who heard it.
ReplyDeleteSame thing Here, I been waiting saving ta watch Dexter many years now... Finally watching it. I noticed this n googled Donnie Darko songs Used in Dexter.
DeleteRite when Cabin how up in season 2 finally
yeah i know! the dexter song is so similar to Liquid Spear Waltz, it's basically slower and in a different key
ReplyDeleteI'm glad someone else out there made this association.
ReplyDeleteI heard Donnie Darko the very first time I saw Dexter. So glad others did too!!
ReplyDeleteI thought it might have been the same song until I googled it just now. Very interesting.
ReplyDeleteIt's completely ripped from Donnie Darko. I'm beginning to notice a lack of originality in the show now. I guess that's to be expected in the 5th season.
ReplyDeleteAll around me are familiar faces, worn out places, worn out faces...
